72nd edition of the Journal Quality List online
New version of the Journal Quality List with updated ABDC and FNEGE ranking

The latest version of the Journal Quality List is now available. The current version contains eleven different rankings of more than 840 journals.
My last update in October 2024 featured no less than four updated rankings (the ABS/AJG 2024 list, the EJL 2024 list, Scopus CiteScores 2024, and the VHB 2024 list). So it won't come as a surprise that this is a more modest update, with only two updated rankings, the ABDC list and the FNEGE list, both updated from their 2022 versions.
Note 1: The JQL is a collation of journal rankings from a variety of sources; it is not a ranking in its own right and I do not make decisions about the ranking of individual journals. For answers to more questions about the JQL, see: Frequently Asked Questions about the JQL.
Please note: this will be my very last JQL
After nearly 26 years of regular updates and no less than 72 editions, the continued maintenance of the JQL has become a bit of a burden; I have no support - financial or human - for this time-consuming volunteering activity.
Taking early retirement (see: Why did I take early retirement & farewell messages) also means that my priorities have changed. So, I have reluctantly had to do decide to make this my last JQL. I will publish a proper farewell post with an overview of its history next month.
As most of the major rankings included in the JQL were updated in 2024 or 2025, the JQL should retain its currency for a few more years.
Rankings of a variety of countries included
Where available, the rankings for each journal from the following sources are included:
- ABDC 2025: Australian Business Deans Council journal ranking, March 2026
- FNEGE 2025: Foundation National pour l’Enseignement de la Gestion des Entreprises journal ranking, June 2025
- VHB 2024: integrated version of the 18 area rankings from the German Academic Association for Business Research, Autumn 2023, replacing the 2015 JOURQUAL ranking
- Scopus CiteSc 2024: Scopus CiteScore, May 2024
- EJL 2024: Erasmus Research Institute of Management Journals Listing 2024-2028
- AJG 2024: British Association of Business Schools Ranking, formerly called the ABS ranking, October 2024
- META 2023: An integrative ranking by a group of German scholars
- HCRES 2021: Haut conseil de l’évaluation de la recherche et de l’enseignement supérieur ranking, July 2021. Note: This ranking appears to have been abandoned. Unless a new ranking comes out in 2025, it will be removed from the JQL.
- DEN 2021: Danish Ministry ranking, mid-2021
- CNRS 2020: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique ranking, June 2020. Note: This ranking appears to have been abandoned. Unless a new ranking comes out in 2025, it will be removed from the JQL.
