71st edition of the Journal Quality List online

New version of the Journal Quality List with no less than four updated rankings

The latest version of the Journal Quality List is now available, with no less than four updated rankings (the ABS/AJG 2024 list, the EJL 2024 list, Scopus CiteScores 2024, and the VHB 2024 list). The JQL is a collation of journal rankings from a variety of sources; the current version contains eleven different rankings of more than 830 journals. See also: Frequently Asked Questions about the JQL.

Please note: crowd-sourcing your input

After 25 years of regular updates, continued maintenance the JQL has become a bit of a burden; I have no support - financial or human - for this. So if you spot any inaccuracies or omissions, please contact me by email. That way we can keep this resource accurate and accessible to all. If you have information about updated lists, please also let me know, so I can include them in the next update.

Rankings of a variety of countries included

Where available, the rankings for each journal from the following sources are included:

  • VHB 2024: integrated version of the 18 area rankings from the German Academic Association for Business Research, Autumn 2023, replacing the 2015 JOURQUAL ranking
  • Scopus CiteSc 2024: Scopus CiteScore, May 2024
  • EJL 2024: Erasmus Research Institute of Management Journals Listing 2024-2028
  • AJG 2024: British Association of Business Schools Ranking, formerly called the ABS ranking, October 2024

  • HCRES 2021: Haut conseil de l’évaluation de la recherche et de l’enseignement supérieur ranking, July 2021. Note: This ranking appears to have been abandoned. Unless a new ranking comes out in 2025, it will be removed from the JQL.
  • DEN 2021: Danish Ministry ranking, mid-2021
  • CNRS 2020: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique ranking, June 2020. Note: This ranking appears to have been abandoned. Unless a new ranking comes out in 2025, it will be removed from the JQL.
